Large amber apothecary bottle with painted tin lid. Amber glass was used by Apothecaries to preserve medicines from sunlight. Stands 8 inches tall with wide mouth opening of 2 1/2 in diameter. Polished open pontil mark. Base is 3 1/2 in diameter. Hand blown glass. Glass is in Very Good condition with a few random tiny bubbles. Tin lid may be a later addition because it is a loose fit. Lid is painted in a gold/bronze metallic paint with contrasting stripes on the edges. Paint on lid has a few abrasions with shiny tin showing thru underneath.
