Quantity: 10 Seeds Turkish Rocket is a member of the brassica family, Oleraceae. This amazing plant is a perennial down to zone 6. The plant produces is one of the first plants to provide a harvest after winter, & will bear a heavy crop of delicious florets in early spring. Turkish Rocket is one of the most prolific brassicas, & will produce dozens of good to large sized heads in a single season. It will keep producing for months as long as it’s harvested regularly & not let to go to seed. The florets taste excellent, & can be cooked in all the usual ways one would cook cauliflower or broccoli. As well as eating the florets, the young leaves taste delicious when fried as well. These plants are especially hardy, & can survive long periods of drought as their roots have been reported to reach 30 feet below the soil surface. Once planted, Turkish Rocket will live for many years, & provide a larger harvest each season. Growing Instructions: Sow indoors a few weeks before last frost & set outside when the freezing temperatures have passed. It’s good to sow them in a sterile growing medium; most available seed starting soils should do the job nicely; we use sunshine mix (peat moss & perlite). The soil should be made moist, but not damp. Sow the seeds 1/8 - 1/4 inch below the soil surface. Store in a warm area until tiny sprouts emerge from the soil. The plants can get quite large, so for best results, its good to give them 3 feet of space to grow. Turkish Rocket is resilient, & doesn’t need much beyond mulch & regular watering. The plant is hardy down to zone 6, so can tolerate frost & snow quite well. It performs best in full sun, but will also yield a decent harvest when grown in partial shade. It likes to grow in just about any type of soil, & doesn’t seem to be particular to PH, but the soil needs to be free draining of water. These plants are flood, drought, disease, & pest resistant. All seeds are organic & open pollinated.
