Snapdragon is native to North Africa, southern Europe & the Middle East. The snapdragon has woody stems at the base, strongly branching, lanceolate leaves & characteristic double-lip flowers gathered in stiff clusters. An excellent plant for low flower beds, but also for planting balcony boxes & lawns. Requires a sandy loam, well-drained, fertile, humus soil. Annual, low-growing plants produce a mass of bright, colorful spikes of pink, red, orange, yellow & white. Flowers having two puffed petals that look like stacked berets. Blooms late spring to frost - a bit earlier than tall snapdragons. Dwarf snaps are best used for garden borders, edgings, & a short component in combo planers.
