Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is said to have been used by Achilles, Greek legend. It is an ancient, traditionally medicinal herb that has been used worldwide for centuries. Native to the area, many insects including native bees & moths are attracted to the plant’s nectar & pollen & other insects also dine on the foliage. Yarrow produces white flowers that have a pleasant smell. Historically, the flowers & leaves were used to stop bleeding & reduce inflammation. Herbal tea was once used for colds, fevers, indigestion, insomnia, & internal bleeding, among other maladies. Hardy to USDA Growing Zones 3-9.
