Goji berry, Wolfberry, Lycium barbarum, or Matrimony Vine is delicious in salads, stir-fries, tea, & a multitude of recipes. These uniquely flavored fruits have been eaten for their health benefits for hundreds of years. The plants are cultivated for increased longevity of life & benefits to liver, kidney, & vision. Full of healthy nutrients & antioxidants, eating the fruit is said to boost your immune system & mental well-being. I certainly find joy & calm in their spiced & sweet tomato/pepper-like taste. Like many shrubs, you can prune them to keep them the size that makes sense for your space. Pruning also encourages healthy new growth & berry production & discourages fungal diseases. These hardy plants are low input & likely to thrive no matter. We have two varieties at the nursery, planting both will encourage more fruit, but they are self pollinating so you only need one shrub. Our two grown bushes here at the nursery are friendly, healthy, & unassertive. Here in Illinois, & in many surrounding areas, the plants fit right into the ecosystem. These are grown outside in NW Illinois, USDA Growing Zone 5b. Please message us if you have any questions.
