Titonia is an annual ornamental plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. The natural area of occurrence of this plant is Mexico. Titonia is characterized by dense foliage & an erect, highly branched habit. It can reach 31 to 39 inch (80 to 100 cm) in height. At the top of thickened shoots, magnificent baskets grow. They are set on long stalks strongly distended under the inflorescence, they have orange ligular flowers. They are the perfect lure of butterflies. Titonia is an easy plant to grow. It is characterized by high resistance to drought, diseases & pests. The seeds are sown in March-April in boxes or on pallets or in pots with a diameter of 2,5-3 inch (7-8 cm). At 18 o C they germinate within 14 days. We plant the seedlings into the ground in mid-May at a distance of 16 - 20 inch. We grow in a sunny place, in a fertile, rather moist soil.
