This relatively fast-growing oriental-looking tree Delonix regia is a species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, subfamily Caesalpinioideae native to Madagascar. It is noted for its fern-like leaves & flamboyant display of orange-red flowers over summer. Very easy to grow from seed Half Tender Perennial (to 0C) - must be protected from frost Height: up to 2 - 4 m Position: Sun in well drained soil or Shrub Compost. Sowing the seeds Sow indoors anytime soak in fresh water for 24 hours. sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost do not cover the seed to deep. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil - vermiculite mix. Propagate. Ideal temp. 20-22oC. Germination may take 3 - 12 weeks. & is known for being variable. Seeds are prone to damping off. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to individual pots, pot on as required. Always use a good quality seed compost.
