Cornflower is an annual plant from the Asteraceae family. Flowering from June to October. Reaches a height of 12-31 in (50 - 80 cm). Blue flowers, fading with time. It grows wild, most frequently in winter cereals, especially in rye, on neutral or slightly acidic soils. Despite its delicate appearance, it does not have high requirements & is easy to grow. Prefers sunny positions & permeable soils, poor in nutrients. Cornflower is very useful for bees, it has a high honey yield (350 kg / ha) & pollen yield (60 kg / ha). Pacage cointains 1 g of seeds which is around 200 seeds. The plant is sown straight into the ground in spring. When the seedlings grow up, it is worth pinching them out to stimulate tillering.
