Chlorogalum pomeridianum is a perennial in the Asparagaceae family. A native to California & Oregon. Some common names include wavy-leafed soap plant, California soaproot, or Amole Lily. It grows along the coastline of western Sierra Nevada foothills. It also grows in the Klamath Mountains, open woodlands, rock bluffs, chaparral, & grasslands. The fibers that surround the bulb were used to make small brushes. The juice extracted from the bulb was used as a soap, giving it its name, the soap plant. It grows to 3 feet tall & 2 feet wide. It prefers to grow under full sun with average water needs. Zones 6-10 Germination Sow seeds on top of the soil & do not cover with soil. Keep moist in a bright spot.
