ANTIQUE VALENTINE’S MEAT JUICE BOTTLE A small amber coloured Valentine’s Meat Juice glass bottle dating from the early 1900s. The bottle is embossed with ‘Valentine’s Meat Juice’ on the front. It has a maker’s symbol on the base which looks like an oval linked to two circles. The bottle has an applied top. Valentine’s Meat Juice was a beef extract like Bovril or Oxo & used as a tonic & quack medicine as a ‘cure-all’ for many Victorian & Edwardian ailments. It was formulated in America by a certain Mann S. Valentine of Virginia originally to help his ill wife, & it proved to be popular all over the world, even King George V of Britain swore by it! Condition: Good. Some surface marks & patination, the result of being buried in the ground!
