A really rather gorgeous antique brass water carrier / watering can with lift-up lid, complete with its original brass pourer. I believe this was likely made by Joseph Sankey & Sons (although there is no mark on the bottom other than the number 4 - numbers were widely used by Sankey to mark the Art Nouveau metalware produced). Sankey is believed to have started producing art metalware in Staffordshire, England from about 1890 & registered many Art Nouveau designs from 1896 through to 1914. It measures: 26cm tall to the top of the handle; the can itself is 15.5cm high; 29cm from spout to handle; 11.5cm wide; & the opening is 11cm x 7cm. It weighs just under 600 grammes unfilled. There are some very minor dents, marks & scratches commensurate with age (please see images & zoom) but a very nice example of its kind & I’ve never come across one still with its original pourer!
