It is a great architectural plant for Mediterranean & xerophytic gardens, & can make an interesting addition for a conservatory or outside over summer in temperate dry gardens. It does well in a drier well drained sites in full sun in middle to the back of the border or as a specimen plant, but is quite tolerant of other soil types & moisture. Drought tolerant. Plants should be lifted & moved into a heated greenhouse/indoors if you live in a frost prone area. This upright slow growing perennial produces a stem growing to over 2m high with a crowded, dense, apical rosette of grey-green leaves that are linear-lanceolate & recurved, up to 0.65 m long. The leaf margins are armed with small, reddish teeth. Flowers are borne on an erect, unbranched to branched raceme with beautiful tubular Yellow flowers are up to 55 mm long & curved. Flowering time is from winter to early spring (July to September in South Africa). The winged seeds are formed in dehiscing capsules & dispersed by the wind. Great for pollinators such as Sunbirds!
