Dizzy Bees is a URBAN garden in a large subdivision, located on beautiful Vancouver Island on the Westcoast of Canada. While we started our journey to grow food, it soon became apparent that the bees didn’t know we were here. So, we began growing for the bees, pollinators, butterflies, birds, & one of our favorites: hummingbirds. Not only are they essential to growing food, but they each play an important role in creating a healthy ecosystem in every garden. 200 seeds Sweet Nantes Coreless Carrots 6-8 long & sweet This delicious carrot forms beautiful tender bright orange 6-8 coreless carrots, with relatively small tops. Tender but crisp even late into the harvest season. Direct sow from just after the last frost date to late summer for harvests from summer through early winter. Sow short rows of carrot seeds at 1-2 week intervals for longer harvest, 1/2 deep. Direct sow winter-harvest carrots (where winters are mild) in the first two weeks of August. Keep the seedbed moist during the 2 week germination period, we use burlap over rows until germination. Thinning This is the process of removing some seedlings, if necessary, so each has enough space to grow in the row. It is very important to thin carrots, so they don’t compete for available nutrients, moisture, & light. Thin to 1-4 apart when the young plants are 1 tall. Use wider spacing to get larger roots. As they grow, carrots may push up, out of the soil, so hill soil up to prevent getting a green shoulder. 200 Sweet Long Coreless Nantes Carrot Seeds Open-Pollinated Non-Hybrid & Non-Gmo, Canada Heirloom Vegetable Dizzy Bees Urban Garden
