Prunus Campanulata is a species of cherry native to Japan, Vietnam & China, including Taiwan, widely grown as an ornamental tree. The Taiwan cherry is a small, deciduous tree with dense branching, a graceful, spreading habit & a maximum height & width of 25ft (7.6m). The bark is smooth & reddish brown. Deep rosy-pink, bell-shaped flowers, about an inch across, appear in profusion before the leaves in early spring. The fruits are small cherries, 0.3 cm in diameter, ripening to black.
