This much sought after item consists of a 2 inch glass bottle containing an assortment of at least 20 English blackthorns, hawthorns & dried rowan berries. Each of these items are reputed to be capable of protecting one or ones property from various evils. Legend has it that one or more carried about your person will protect you from harm. Thorns placed on your door or window frames will also help to keep your house safe. These sharp thorns are sourced from ancient wild blackthorn bushes which have been present in my woodland for many years. I harvest them during the winter months when the shrubs are lying dormant. Talismans are a form of contagious magic, carried on the person. A talisman made from Hawthorn wood or thorns will enhance your ability to release love, open the heart & align yourself to your spiritual development. The Hawthorn is often referred to in verse by the phase by Oak, Ash, & Thorn (the Thorn referring to that of the Hawthorn tree) & is used as a blessing during ritual, or to affirm a charge of power in spell-craft. in folklore the Oak, Ash, & Thorn was associated with portals leading into the realm of the fairies, in which regard the Hawthorn with its connection to Cardea as the hinge on the door became the guardian & protector of the entrances to the Oak & Ash portals, & unless the Hawthorn allowed access to these doorways, the fairy realm remained unseen. Hawthorn is a steadfast friend. A single Hawthorn can live for 100 years or more, & Hawthorn tends to flourish wherever he’s planted, be it by human hands or otherwise. Whether he’s taken the shape of bush or tree, thorn or berry, in your life, hawthorn promises to be around a while. Hawthorn endeavours are long-term engagements; they’ll likely have lasting power & significance in your life. in ancient folklore the Rowan is variously known as quickbeam or witchen. The name rowan, however, derives from the Old Norse runa, meaning a charm, from its supposed ability to avert the evil eye & from where the casting of the runes is also derived. 20 Blackthorn Hawthorn Rowan Protection Collection Thorns
