This heavy cropping beefsteak is equally delicious sliced or cooked with their very meaty, juicy firm flesh with a slightly smoky flavour. The large fruits average 4 to 5 inches, & 8 to 12 ounces each, but can grow much larger. Black Krim start out green with the fruits maturing to a brown-red colour with a darker top. As they ripen, the fruits will turn black but will be very hard. As they ripen, the fruits soften & start turning a dark red from the bottom up. At this stage they are ready for picking, however, the longer you leave them, the sweeter they will taste. Black Krim are not as uniform & traditionally perfect shaped, but the flavour more than makes up for this.
